Val's one-woman show to tour in June!

Come, me pickney!
Gather round children, listen up. Valerie Bloom has a story to tell you. Valerie's one-woman show is set to tour in June, with performances around the country. The show's organiser says the following:

"Valerie Bloom is an award winning poet and author for children and a fantastic performer of her work. She will delight you with her stories and you will find yourself singing along to her poems in this brand new performance that showcases her writing, set to a specially commissioned soundscape with theatrical lighting. This is an uplifting and unique performance from one of the best contemporary writer’s for children."

Valerie Bloom, MBE...

So the New Year's in and the honour's list is out - our congratulations go out to Valerie for this recognition of the hard work that she and so many of her colleagues put into their field. The award was for services to poetry, and will be received in the new year.

The long-awaited Tribe

It was a while in the making, but Valerie's latest novel 'The Tribe' went to print during the summer. It tells the story of Maruka, a young Taino girl whose world is turned upside down at the arrival of strangers to her Caribbean island. Available in good bookshops on the high street as well as online. (If you have problems finding The Tribe in your local bookshop, ask if it's listed under its working title, 'Child of Thunder').
